North Coast Massage Treatments- Relax and Revitalize

Advanced Remedial Massage

Advanced Remedial Massage can help aid in relieving aches, pains and tension whilst also helping to correct postural imbalances, poor mobility and movement patterns. It is a great way to help prevent and treat injuries and it also helps those suffering from a whole range of medical conditions including things like MS, frozen shoulder, rotator cuff issues, spinal problems arthritis and much more. Included is soft or deep tissue massage (at a level you can tolerate), APR (active, passive and resisted tests) Structural checks, the Beighton scale for hyper mobility, Trigger Point Therapy, Muscle Energy Techniques, Mobilisation techniques, Taping, Myofascial Release and Positional Release Techniques. Homecare advice will also be given and might include Postural Exercises and Stretching advice. It is very important you follow my advice in order to get the best results form your treatment! This multidisciplined approach is way more successful at treating injuries than just massage alone.

Sports and Deep Tissue Massage

Sports and Deep Tissue Massage is either manually applied or done via a massage gun and as the name suggests it reaches the deeper layers of tissue. This treatment type should only be used for those in general good health! It is used to break down or alleviate tension, tight/shortened muscle fibres, tight fascia, adhesions, contractures, muscle cramps or spasms, scar tissue and pressure points such as trigger points throughout the body. This massage is particularly beneficial for athletes, MS, contractures, cerebral palsy, some historic injuries and for those who have poor posture and sit for long periods of time. I use Trigger point therapy or tools, Myofascial Release, Positional release technique and Muscle energy technique to help. I will always work within your own particular level of comfort. Deep tissue isn't suitable for everyone, sometimes less pressure is more appropriate and more effective especially if you are injured or in a lot of pain.  If I deem it unsafe I will only ever use a lighter pressure regardless of the treatment you choose! Deep tissue used wrongly can cause you to tense up, sometimes worsening the pain you are in and risking putting you into a state of healing crisis.

Lymphatic Drainage Massage

This very gentle Massage is used to help eliminate toxins and pressure in the lymphatic vessels by pushing any excess lymphatic fluid back up the body to the organs of elimination such as the spleen, liver and lymph nodes. This type of fluid retention is often quite visible in the lower legs and arms as swelling and it can come about via injury, arthritis, surgery or illness. You should always see a Doctor first just to check that the swelling isn't something more serious! For those with a severe lymphoedema problem this treatment would be ineffective without bandaging and I have yet to train in this part of the treatment but I plan to do it at some point.

Oncology Massage

This treatment is designed specifically for those living with or post cancer treatment. It can be done immediately after diagnosis, throughout your cancer treatment and well into full recovery and beyond. Anyone who has ever had a cancer diagnosis should opt for this treatment above all others as it will be tailored to your specific needs and better yet it comes at a discounted price! I received funding for this course from Nancy's Natters. They try to encourage therapists to offer a discount but I was more than happy to be able to help such a worthy cause anyway. I had the privilege to be trained by the lovely Gayle MacDonald who came out of retirement to train therapists again. She developed a course that has been used to train massage therapists right across the world. A lot of research and experience went into ensuring that this is the safest form of treatment on offer! It is a comfort based, client led massage that helps give you back some choice on how you might want to care for your body.

Comfort Massage

This massage is designed to relieve severe stress and anxiety and help with grief, loss or bad news and can be used as an introductory treatment for those new to massage too. It is a client led treatment with less paperwork that can be done fully clothed, seated or lying down with complete silence or with EMDR or ASMR music, that resets the troubled brain. Alternatively I could just use general relaxing music containing nature sounds. I have a light projecting the moon and aurora on the ceiling or a lavender eye mask instead if you want them. I have crystals you could hold or stress balls/hand putty instead. You can adopt which ever position feels the most comfortable to you even if that's the foetal position! Snuggle up with a weighted blanket, fleece cover or big duvet and cuddle a big fluffy cushion. The massage itself can be a gentle head, foot, hand, face or back massage or even be as simple as a held hand for comfort. I have chocolate or relaxing essential oils if you don't mind get oil on your skin. Escape, get some peace, relax and recuperate without the need to talk!

Seated Massage

As the name suggests this is a massage that is done sat down using the upper part of a seated massage chair placed on a desk or bed with you sat in an ordinary chair or wheelchair behind it making it particularly useful for those that cannot lye down on the treatment couch. It's particularly useful for people with weight issues, breathing difficulties, pregnancy or any other type of mobility or medical issue. Incredibly comfortable to use it can be used in combination with either the gentler Swedish Massage, Indian Head Massage, Oncology massage or the deeper Remedial Massage techniques. For obvious reasons this one is for the back, neck, head, face and shoulder area only. This fully adjustable device has removable parts so my version allows for the growing pregnant belly to be accommodated much more easily than the average massage chair allows.

If you are pregnant and looking for a treat like this, please be aware that I cannot treat you in your first trimester for safety reasons. (I plan at some point to do a fuller pregnancy specific massage course so as to be able to meet the needs of the pregnant lady even more effectively in the future)

Seated massage can also be done fully clothed if you like.

Swedish Massage

Swedish Massage is your basic soft tissue massage which is designed to melt away muscle tension, relax your body and mind and improve the flow of blood and lymph back to your heart. It is extremely therapeutic as it decreases muscle toxins, increases oxygen levels and T-cells in the blood stream and helps improve flexibility in the body. It can also help with fluid retention, digestive issues, general aches, pains and so much more! Its techniques are the basis for ALL massage modalities so expect to see some of these moves used in other treatments too. This treatment can also be stimulating to the tissues when tapotement is used which is a tapping, clapping, pounding or hacking type movement.

Hot and Cold Stone Massage

Hot/Cold Stone Massage uses Lava Stones, Marble Stones and Jade Gem stones and can include some mixed gem stone placement too. For this particular massage the stones can be used hot or cold to massage you and it is often paired with a Soft tissue or Deep tissue massage as well. This is like two types of massage in one treatment. If someone offering you this treatment has simply placed the stones on your skin and left you to relax without offering you a massage then you have been sold short!!

The Hot Lava Stones are pre-heated in warm water and used along with oil to massage and relax you to ease muscle aches and tension.

The Cold Marble Stones are pre-cooled in cold water to massage you and to soothe or invigorate your muscles and your skin. It can also help relieve inflammation, improving mobility, easing aches and pains making this a particularly good treatment post injury.

If you prefer you can alternate between the Hot and Cold Stones for a more invigorating massage! (This version is much nicer than you might think).

Alternatively Jade stones can be used either warm or cold for their more emotion balancing and rejuvenating properties.

To finish, as an extra add on you can have a gemstone therapy treatment! There's not just a good selection of gem stones for realigning your chakras, there's also a Jade comb to help promote healthy hair growth (used in conjunction with nourishing hair oils), there's Jade facial rollers and a Gua Sha tool which are used for their anti ageing facial properties too (used in conjunction with anti ageing essential oils and serums for an even greater effect). For best results combine it with the Jade Body stones and a special 'well woman' essential oil mixture specially blended to help rebalance your hormones, your mood and improve your skin tone and texture. This treatment might be particularly good for those going through the peri-menopause, menopause and beyond. (I'm hoping to do a course dedicated specifically to treating the menopause which might change and adapt what I can offer for this particular issue).

Gem stone therapy is also good for men too not just women!

All in all this is probably one of the most comprehensive set of stone treatments you'll likely see locally especially at this price!!

Luxury Treatment Massage

With this treatment you can have one of the Hot/Cold or Gem stone treatment options listed above along with either the Soft or Deep tissue massage, including an Indian Head Massage and Aromatherapy oils too! It has the widest range of both mental and physical health benefits. What also helps make this so luxurious is that it includes everything you could possibly need in one calming chilled out session. Included if you want is the use of the electric heated under blanket, an extra soft fleece top blanket or a super warm quilt and silky pillow cases, luxurious velvet bedcovers, mittens and booties, heated aromatherapy oils, steamy hot towels to remove any excess oil and warm towelling pockets for the placement of hot stones across your entire back. The booties and mittens are also heated in the towel warmer too. The perfect way to warm yourself up from head to toe! Alternatively you can switch the heat completely for cold or have an alternating hot and cold stone massage along with uplifting oils for a more invigorating massage and a more enlivening, refreshing effect. Gift vouchers are available for this truly unique pampering session. Choose from either the full body or upper body versions and express what elements you would prefer to include on the day.

Aromatherapy Massage

Aromatherapy massage involves the use of essential (and highly concentrated) plant based oils and a carrier base oil. Specially blended on the day to suit your individual needs, this very relaxing Soft Tissue Massage can be tailor made to help with a variety of issues. The essential oil molecules are not only inhaled but also absorbed through the skin as well and it includes reflexology pressure point therapy on the feet too. This treatment also includes a special FREE home care gift to complement your treatment that allows you to take what's left of your blended oils home in either a pretty glass roll on bottle or in a glass jar with moisturising cream making what I'm offering with this treatment truly unique and very good value indeed!!

Thai Compress Massage

This massage involves the use of hot muslin compresses (prakops) which may contain plants, herbs, rice, coconut or sesame seeds with essential oils such as rose or chamomile. It is based on ancient Ayurvedic medicine and follows the sen lines of the body helping to free up these energy channels. The compresses are soaked in water and then heated in a steamer. Pressure with the compress is then applied to the body in a variety of different ways such as patting, pounding, pummelling and rolling finishing with the application of aromatherapy oils and gliding movements to help improve the flow of lymph. It is best done as a full body treatment.

Indian Head Massage

Indian Head Massage is an ancient Ayurvedic treatment focusing on the face, head, neck and shoulders. This modern award winning, tried and tested version is still steeped in history. Developed by an Indian Physician it involves a number of kneading, stroking and acupressure moves to relieve muscle tension, induce relaxation, ease headaches, migraines, reduce stress, mental fatigue, anxiety and stimulate the circulation to the scalp. Originally it was used by women for women in India from birth and into adulthood to promote stronger and shinier hair, to generally boost hair health, encourage hair growth helping to reduce hair loss. It also nourishes the scalp by improving the circulation to the scalp and opening the pores thus allowing the products you use to penetrate the hair better, therefore the effects of any serum, cream or hair treatment will be greater. It has also also been found to help with chronic illness, degenerative diseases and chronic pain. By helping to improve the nervous system it also helps improve focus and memory, releases endorphins which improves your mood and brings mental peace aiding a deep and restful natural sleep. Because it works around the eye area as well it relieves eye fatigue and helps improve your vision. It can be performed seated, fully clothed or lying down.

Cleansing Massage

This treatment is like a massage based basic facial for the face or back for a bit of a general cleanse post or pre treatment. It includes a body or face wash, exfoliant, serum, mask and massage cream each of which will be massaged into the skin to leave your back or face and neck feeling clean, relaxed and refreshed. What makes this different from your usual cleansing treatment is the extra time focused on incorporating a full massage treatment of your choice into the session rather than concentrating on skin type and conditioning. I have a sensitive skin facial range and a coconut or invigorating body range of professional products for this.

Physique Plus Toning

The 'Physique Plus' is a slimming and muscle toning machine that uses a faradic current to contract the muscle several times over a 15 minute period and it is particularly effective  when done as part of a weightless program. It works by mimicking the electrochemical signal sent by the brain to the muscles to make the muscle contract. This toning function has the effect of a four hour workout on the muscles without the hard work and straining! Because you are lying down for this treatment, body positioning and the bad effects it can have when it comes to exercise are not an issue with this type of exercise making it particularly useful if you have hyper mobile joints as you are properly supported throughout the session. The machine also has a slimming function that works at a different frequency to help break down fat and cellulite. The treatment pads can be applied to the arms, legs, stomach or gluts and it is particularly good for regaining tone such as core muscle strength where it has been lost which is why these machines are sometimes used by physios. This treatment is finished off with a slimming cream and massage to help boost the effectiveness of the treatment.

If however you have any metal pins, plates or devices fitted in your body, including the coil or a pacemaker, then you should avoid this kind of treatment.

Slimming Massage

This treatment uses a cellulite massage device that incorporates both red light and a specific frequency that helps to break down fat cells, improve skin texture, fine lines and stretch marks and lightly tones the muscles too. It is used with either a slimming cream or anti stretch mark oil. It can also be used in conjunction with my cleansing treatment, the physique plus or vibroplate for even better results

Vibroplate Fitness

This treatment offers several health and fitness benefits including boosting circulation, muscle tone and strength, bone density, joint stability, limb coordination and a quicker recovery rate post exercise. This vibrating balance plate can be particularly useful for breaking up fat cells assisting with slimming and weight loss and can help with conditions such as lymphoedema, lipedema, age related balance issues, core muscle loss and can even help prevent osteoporosis.

For this treatment you can either sit in a chair, on the plate itself or stand up for best results. you could also do push-ups, sit-ups, lunges, squats, tricep dips or the bridge for a more intense workout. It even comes with stretch bands so you can do bicep curls too!

Leg Compression Therapy

This treatment is designed for poor circulation, athletes, active and inactive individuals with leg issues. The leg bags have 8 air filled chambers that inflate and deflate with a 360 degree all round wrapping compression that works the thigh, calf and foot area incrementally. Unlike manual massage it treats the entire leg as a whole all at once for an even greater compression pressure effect. It also has a heat function for additional benefits. It can help to improve blood and lymphatic circulation, alleviate leg pain, cramps, neuropathy and muscle tension making it ideal for those with restless leg syndrome, edema and  varicose veins. Particularly good for recovery post activity it can really help promote and boost better condition of your legs and feet.

Red Light and Infrared Therapy

This Red light and infrared therapy lamp uses advanced LED technology and has a low level wavelength to help stimulate cellular activity without warming the skin, enhancing energy function within the body, reducing inflammation, boosting collagen production and improving your skin tone and texture as well. Benefits to the skin also includes a reduction in acne spots, stretch marks and wrinkles. Generally it promotes faster wound healing, improved hair growth, is good for pain relief and swelling reduction in arthritic joints and can help to ease sore muscles too. It may also help with conditions such as rheumatiod arthritis, fibromyalgia and degenerative disc disease. Recent studies suggest it may even help support cognitive function.

The Combo *Special offer*

You asked, I've delivered! This option allows you to book two different half hour treatments of any type into an hour long session at a special offer price (the Thai Compress, Hot Stones and Luxury Treatments are excluded from this offer as combining them is contraindicated. The Slimming and Red Light Therapy should not be combined because the Slimming Treatment already has red light in the treatment).
